Amateur radio (AKA "ham radio") is a STEM hobby enjoyed by millions of people around the world. There are 750,000 licensed hams just in the USA. There's a nationwide activity coming up in February 10-14 called the School Club Roundup. It's a competition where school clubs operate that week and try to make as many contacts as possible across North America, MAYBE with astronuaunts onthe International Space Station, and also people in Europe and South America. The club will have the radios and antennas. You just need to show up.
